Bird photography is 5% camera, 95% learning to sit still

Spent two years thinking I needed a longer lens. Then I spent one morning sitting motionless by a creek and got closer to a kingfisher than 600mm ever got me.

The birds were never too far away. I was too loud.

the sitting still part is also just... really good for you? half my hikes now include an hour of doing absolutely nothing on purpose
