Bird photography is 5% camera, 95% learning to sit still

Spent two years thinking I needed a longer lens. Then I spent one morning sitting motionless by a creek and got closer to a kingfisher than 600mm ever got me. The birds were never too far away. I was too loud.

Leave-no-trace tip people skip: pack out the peels

Orange peels and apple cores aren't 'natural' — they take months to break down and teach animals to associate trails with food. If you packed it in, pack it out. Even the compostable stuff.
